About the Ride
Hub On Wheels is Boston's largest city-sponsored sporting event.
The ride is fully supported and safe, with three routes: 10, 30, or 50 miles(see map) of harbor views and hidden pathways, river greenways and Boston's wonderful and eclectic neighborhoods. Storrow Drive is completely car-free, as is the entire 10 mile route. Marshals along all routes make sure there's plenty of space to ride. Tech support and ride snacks are free of charge.
The registration fee is $45. You can register online by clicking here. If you are unable to register online, there will be onsite registration open on the day of the event. A $250 pledge commitment is strongly encouraged. Think of it as just $25 from ten friends.
Proceeds from Hub On Wheels help Boston Public School Students get the technology and the skills they need to succeed in today's world. Learn more.
Cyclists must be 10+ years to ride the 10 mile loop, 12+ years to ride the longer loops. Children under 10 may participate only if riding with an adult on a tandem, trail-a-bike, bike seat or trailer. Children under 10 ride for free - no separate registration is required. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. To reopen Storrow Drive in a timely fashion, anyone not reaching the 10 mile turnaround by 9:30 will be turned back early. Many other roads are open to traffic. All rules of the road apply. Please ride safely and courteously.
Don't have a bike but still want to ride? Reserve a bike today by contacting our official bike rental partner, Urban Adventours, at (800) 979-3370 or at www.urbanadventours.com.
We have volunteer positions for both the day before the ride, Saturday, September 26th and the day of the ride, Sunday, September 27th. So, if you've already signed up to ride, you can still help out and if you have family and friends that aren't quite up to riding, they can still be part of the big event by volunteering.
On Saturday we are looking for Signage Volunteers and Goodie Bag Stuffers. The signage volunteers drive a portion of the route in a group of 2-4 and put up directional signs. The Goodie Bag Stuffers, do, well, just that.
On Sunday we are still looking for Registration Volunteers as well as Food and Goodie Bag Distributors. Registration Volunteers will check in participants before the event and Food and Goodie Bag Distributors will set up and distribute our free give-aways after the ride.
Volunteering for Hub On Wheels really is a lot of fun. Plus, we'll get you a free Wheelworks Volunteer t-shirt, a free lunch and automatic entrance into our volunteer raffle.
If you're interested in volunteering click here to sign up.
